The 15-0-15 2A Center Tapped Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. It has a center-tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads approximately 100mm long.
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy through inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces magnetizing current and confines the flux to closely couple the winding.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force (E.M.F) or voltage in the secondary winding. This transformer is suitable for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converters, and designing battery chargers.
