The 15-0-15 1A Center Tapped Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. It features a center-tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads approximately 100mm long.
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel. This design helps to greatly reduce magnetizing current and confine the flux to a path that closely couples the winding.
The transformer is a static electrical device that transfers energy through inductive coupling between its winding circuits. A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force in the secondary winding.
