The 0-6 3 Amp Step Down Transformer is designed for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converters, and for designing a battery charger. The transformer acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 6V or 0V. It features a solid core and winding construction, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel to reduce magnetizing current and confine flux.
The transformer has a non-center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads (approximately 100mm long). It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force in the secondary winding.
