The 0-15 5Amp Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. It features a non-center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads, approximately 100mm long.
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel. This steel core greatly reduces the magnetizing current and confines the flux to closely couple the winding circuits.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force in the secondary winding. This transformer is suitable for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on-chassis AC/AC converters, and designing battery chargers.
