The 0-15 500mA Step Down Transformer is designed for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converter, and designing a battery charger. The transformer acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. It has a non-center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads (approx. 100mm long).
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces the magnetizing current and confines the flux to a path closely coupling the winding.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force (E.M.F) or voltage in the secondary winding. The transformer is suitable for various applications due to its reliable performance and efficient design.
