The 0-15 3 Amp Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. It features a non-center tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads approximately 100mm long. The transformer is suitable for various applications such as DIY projects requiring high current drain, on-chassis AC/AC converters, and designing battery chargers.
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel. This material helps to greatly reduce magnetizing current and confine the flux to a path that closely couples the winding circuits. The varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force in the secondary winding.
