The 0-15 1 Amp Step Down Transformer is designed for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on-chassis AC/AC converters, and designing battery chargers. It acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 15V. The transformer has a non-center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads (approximately 100 mm long).
The construction of the transformer includes a solid core and winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy through inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The transformer's cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces magnetizing current and confines the flux to closely couple the winding.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force (E.M.F) or voltage in the secondary winding. The transformer provides outputs of 15V and 0V, suitable for various applications.
