The 0-12 750mA Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC - 230V to AC - 12V. It has a non-center tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads (Approx 100 mm long).
The transformer's construction includes a Solid Core and Winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces the magnetizing current and confines the flux to a path closely coupling the winding.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core, inducing a varying electromotive force (E.M.F) or voltage in the secondary winding. The transformer is suitable for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converters, and designing a battery charger.
