The 0-12 5Amp Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 12V. It has a non-center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads (Approx 100 mm long).
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding made of high permeability silicon steel. This design helps in reducing magnetizing current and confining the flux to a path that closely couples the winding.
A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the core, inducing a varying electromotive force in the secondary winding. This transformer is suitable for DIY projects requiring high current drain, on-chassis AC/AC converters, and designing battery chargers.
