The transformer acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 12V, with outputs of 12V and 0V. It features flying colored insulated connecting leads (approx. 100 mm long) and a solid core with winding construction.
The transformer is a static electrical device that transfers energy through inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces magnetizing current and confines the flux to closely couple the windings.
